Mid...If I Loved You..

I am five and a quarter, says this little boy
Each month that passes adds to his joy
Wanting to be seen to be fully grown
This slow moving time is met with a groan

Reaching the age of maturity will not be too long
A young lady greets this age with a song
She spreads her wings and does as she damn well please
Meeting the challenge of life.. and becoming a tease

Thirty something! Boy these years pass quick
To utilise this time, I must learn the trick
Middle age creeps forward and can now be seen
Where is my youth? Where could I have been?

Another Monday morning, God where will it end?
A few aches and pains, will this body never mend?
Looking to the weekend, wishing away this day
This time last week, I could swear...that it was Friday

Fifty something years old today and how will you view?
Do you feel old and so very blue?
Consider this time an unwelcome milestone?
Retreating this day to spend alone?

Today represents the first of your remaining life
Put aside the past and forget all the strife
Be positive, cheerful and look forward in time
Look to your strengths and you will do just fine

With more days behind than remains in front
Time to accept advice both candid and blunt
Time to map out your future with someone who cares
Time to gamble this time as each day you share

Time to build on this foundation moulded on trust
Your happiness assured for that is a must
Time to understand the beauty I see within your smile
Time for you to help me... walk that extra mile
