.......Greetings From The UK.......
...............Welcome To This Sunday...............

And with a simple explanation of this coming Boxing day.

Tis a public holiday within the UK
December the 26th is known as Boxing day
A name so very misleading it can certainly confuse
Has nothing to do with fighting, so don't be bemused

This day invented in the Dickensian past
When transport arrangements were not so fast
A day put aside to be spent at a leisurely pace
For this was a time before the modern rat race

On Christmas eve each home visited by Santa Claus
On the following day each family unit would pause
To enjoy the company family bonds to re-new
An intimate time reserved for the immediate few

It would be seen as bad manners to gate crash this day
So distant relatives and friends would stay away
No contact possible no chance of a meeting
So tomorrow was reserved for their seasonal greeting

As Boxing day dawns the streets frosty no less
You rise with the lark and dress to impress
Set off on your journey and casually stroll
Cheerfully greeting each passing soul

Carrying your presents to show that you care
So when you arrive you can simply share
No matter how humble your offering of goodwill
Boxed and colourfully wrapped to increase the thrill

So the name of this day is now plain to see
Streets full of boxes carried by you and me
Boxing day sets aside a time your love to display
An extension of Christmas, a uniquely English day

There is only one way to say
"I Love You"
But there are thousands of ways to demonstrate
