We are indeed fortunate, to share this Sunday.
Fortunate in so much, it is a peaceful gentle day.
We should reflect for a moment, and consider the few.
Far away from home, for they have much left to do.
There are many this day, who willingly give of their all.
Unfortunately it is inevitable, that some will sadly fall.
It is never romantic to fight, in some far off land.
Scorching heat, dry throat, never ending infernal sand.
Democracies by necessity, breed a warrior race.
Loss of liberty the threat, that we will always face.
Youth willingly rises, to the challenge facing our nation.
These unselfish acts, provides us all with inspiration.
History repeats with conflicts, perceptions that never end.
Our sons and daughters, we constantly have to send.
Matters not the rights and wrongs, of any conflict situation.
It is our young warriors, that deserve our consideration.
Fresh faced youngsters, grimly focussed within armed struggle.
Whilst mom and dad understand, the kids just need a cuddle.
Yes, we are indeed fortunate to share this particular Sunday.
Hoping that in some far of land, it will be a peaceful gentle day.
