Having just had this computer up-graded
It made sense to re-format both the C and D drives.
So I started once again with a clean system
and it worked well for a couple of months

Then I found little errors occuring with no error messages
to alert me. In my case the shut-down procedure was unreliable.
I therefore felt that some system file was becoming corrupted.
But which system file was the cause and how can I restore it??

Windows 98 will carry out self diagnosis and restore the file

So if you are experiencing similar minor problems,
I would suggest this routine

The Easy Way To Check Your System Files

On your start bar click on start, then click run.
In the run window type sfc
Then hit the OK button

This will bring up a window that looks like this
