Painless with all senses intact, and yet loss of speech is real
Do not understand how, but I knew the effects would be short
Thought process and intellect, within a "Stroke" securely caught.
Comfortable, feet up on the desk, ear glued to the phone
Sharing this time and listening, to your rich sensual tone
Encouraging your smile, as on the days events we reflect
The coming of yet another "stroke" we both failed to detect.
Hang up the phone, as I try to place both feet on the floor
Lost total control of my left leg, failing to reach the door
For two days I cannot stand, reduced to walking on my knees
Time to study the inner effects, with positive results that please.
A "stroke", a personal war, which the individual must fight
Inner strength the only weapon, applied with all your might
Strength of mind the only force, to control and hopefully manage
To overcome and successfully reduce, the risk of lasting damage.
How can you help, depends upon how much you understand
Any "stroke victim", will welcome your helping hand
All other senses sharp, except those directly affected by "the stroke"
So treat the "victim" with respect, that you naturally show "fitter" folk.
Living with potential strokes, is no reason to live with fear
Just value this time and strive, for yet another glorious year
Tis a positive time, with yet another chance "to do"
Ensure nothing remains unsaid, "for I do love you"
There is only one way to say
"I Love You"
But there are thousands of ways to demonstrate
