Windows 98

starting as you "boot" the computer
At some time or other, we have all installed a small program
to either try out or to use on an intermittent basis.
Then we find that the installation process has put the program
Icon into the task bar right next to the clock.
Then you may decide to keep the program, but will only use it
on an occasional basis. And yet every time you start your
computer this program automatically starts consuming
your valuable resources
So should you decide to, you can very easily prevent this program
from automatically starting during the "Boot" sequence
Before we start.

The Easy Way To Disable Start Menu Programs
On your start bar click on start, then click run.
In the run window type msconfig
Then hit the OK button

This will bring up a window that looks like this (more or less)

Select the Startup tab and find the program
that you wish to disable. Remove the check mark
in the appropriate box. Hit Apply then OK.
Re-boot your computer and the offending program
will no longer automatically start.
Should you wish to operate this program
it must now be started manually.
At any time you can repeat
the exercise to either close
other programs or to re-enable an
automatic start during the boot sequence.
