Text amended 04/04/2003 to reflect new information

This picture was sent to me by Marguerite who lives in Portland, Oregon U.S.A. It clearly shows sunset approaching my world. It also shows the continental shelf extending into the bay of Biscay, the straits of Gibraltar, snow in Norway and Iceland, and the wide open frozen spaces of Greenland.

This photo is a digital composite formed by merging multiple images from different sources (primarily satellites). The picture is of the setting sun in Europe and Africa. Half of the picture is daylight and half is night. The bright dots you see are the cities' lights. The lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona, and it is still daylight in London, Lisbon, and Madrid. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert. The Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly, partially in light and partially in darkness. At the top left hand side is Greenland, totally frozen.

The sun is still shining on the straits of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea is in darkness. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them, to the right, are the Madeira Islands; below are the Canary Islands; and further south, close to the farthest western point of Africa, are the Cape Verde Islands.

There is only one way to say
"I love
you"
But there are thousands of ways to demonstrate
