One Broke Sailor
Following a spell of "Home Leave" it was natural to find young sailors a little depressed when they returned to the ship. I would make a special point of talking to each young sailor on his return to welcome him back to the squadron and more importantly to find out if all-was-well at home.
Sam was especially "Down-in-the-dumps" so I had my usual conversation with him taking the time to "Cheer-him-up" a wee bit. It transpired that he had had a most enjoyable 10 days at home, the wife and kids were just fine.
"So why so glum" I asked. "Well" said Sam, "I will be broke for the next month as I have to buy a new No.1 uniform, and you know how expensive that is".
"Why do you need a new suit" I asked, What is wrong with the one you had"?.
"Oh!" said Sam, "It is totally ruined". "How did you ruin it" I asked.
"It was not my fault" said Sam, "The stupid woman was in the bath when I got home"
