"D" Day

The Russians had eventually turned the German army to retreat back home and in doing so many German soldiers perished in that cold Russian winter. This was a turning point in WW2 as it was the very first time that Hitler's army had been beaten..

The UK holds a major debt of gratitude to the Russian people.. and feels for those German soldiers who perished in that bleak place.

We never treat our enemy as something sub-human, we respect his fighting ability and his intelligence.. Not to do so costs lives as America found out in Vietnam later.

In the UK we do not find it necessary to refer to an enemy soldier as a "Gook or Geek". This is something some generals would be wise to learn, As for the fighting man...You always give him the respect he deserve and the Germans were good but no match for the Russian winter.

The UK has re-enforced the 8th Army in North Africa and following the siege of Tobruk.. Montgomery now has sufficient resources to drive Rommel from the desert. The UK is engaged globally and is basically losing one colony after another to the Japanese in the far east.. We are in fact stretched too thinly for such a little country.. At this point in the war it was the UK, Australia & Canada that was taking the beating whilst America looked on with their Isolationist polices..

I was in Libya at Tobruk in 1967 and was appalled at the sights as a new road was being cut throughout the desert.. Thousands of human skeletons were uncovered daily .. To be ground up and converted into Ballast for the road foundations.. They were of all European nationalities who died so wastefully for a country no European is even welcome in today.. I did ask myself why and could never find any sort of answer that made any sense at all..

We did however change the Arabs way of life.. We collectively left behind so many minefields that now instead of the woman walking behind the man as was the custom... They now walk well in front

German had built it's gas chambers and was systematically destroying the European Jewish race..Other minority groups like Gypsies were also included in this genocide.. There are at least 6 million Jews documented and known to be dead at the hands of this little dictator..

Here I wish to try and portray how big this number is... We all dream of THE MILLION...But can you comprehend how big that figure is??...I doubt it... If I was to ask you how many days have gone by since the start of the current calendar...How many days since the birth of Christ..Most would answer without thinking Millions..Not so...There has only been 3/4 of a million so far..

And yet 6 million Jews were murdered in less than 5 short years.. Close on 3,300 every day.. This is a major atrocity that the world had never seen on this scale before.. And why..Because the fascist believes in the white master race..

Blonde haired Blue eyed women were placed into baby farms and mated with blond haired blue eyed men to breed the next generation of this master race.. You will understand the term racist... Fascism is racist in the extreme and would systematically have killed off all races who were not blonde and blue eyed..Many millions would be murdered in the quest for this fascist master race.

Japan was operating an expansion policy in the pacific and the far east.. This was a super power who now wished to dominate its geographical area. Indeed the Japanese had taken Singapore and Hong Kong from the British.. Their biggest fear was that America would use its pacific fleet to stop their expansionist policy.. In that fleet was the most feared of War Canoes..The Aircraft Carrier

Japanese intelligence had the entire fleet in dock at Pearl harbour on that fateful Sunday Morning.. Unannounced and without any formal declaration of war..The Japanese took out the undefended American Pacific fleet.. Sunday should come as no surprise.. It is common place to attack western Christian countries either on Sundays or Xmas day... Many things have occurred in my short life on Sundays...We lost 17 men in Northern Ireland one fateful Sunday morning.. It will therefore come as no surprise to you that I am known for My Welcome To Sunday Posts...Sort of compensates a little if I can put together something beautiful.

The Japanese were not sucessful as the entire fleet of Aircraft carriers were not in pearl harbour that morning.. So the ships they feared most remained intact.. America now entered the war and the UK said thank god its about bloody time.. Had the Japanese not stirred America into Action.. The outcome of this war would have been so different.. It is my opinion that the UK would have lost this war without the Americans,... But there would not have been much left for the victors.. This country would have destroyed itself before it would accept Fascist rule..

The American War in the pacific was well planned and executed.. But America was fighting a major power and therefore the action took many lives.. The Japanese saw disgrace in surrender and fought hard causing major casualties to the American Serviceman... Far more than Vietnam

American Servicemen & more importantly their abundant war machine arrived in the UK... Over-paid...Over-sexed....& Over-here... was the little mans response to the fresh GI arriving in the UK. But the nation welcomed this intervention with open arms...

The timing was perfect... Rommel beaten in North Africa...The Russians making great progress from the east.. The German command in disarray... Now what was to follow was the biggest Amphibious landing the world has ever seen...

American Canadian & British Army units were to land on "D" Day.. This act of bravery is unsurpassed in history... My Father attached to the Canadians at that time went ashore on Juno beach and lived to tell the tail

Why D Day... the first day that was planned was A Day...Then B Day....C Day...But it was not until the forth day D Day that the weather pattern came good for a sustained Amphibious landing... You do not get more than one go at this...Many will die in the next few days so it has to work first time & by God it did..
