Democracy. An illusion or fact?

The photograph is real. The effect an illusion. Is democracy a "black & white" subject?

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm).

I have spent the greater part of my working life in the service of my country, often referred to as the oldest living democracy in the world. More recently I was asked for my opinion on this subject. This made me think long and hard.

I intend to publish, in the following links, articles written by respected men/women on this subject and add some thoughts of my own. They will be very personal thoughts formed from my own life experiences and from a European perspective.

You will not necessarily agree with the ideas voiced in these articles as often they will reflect the flavour, and not necessarily accurate historical facts. This Steve is no historian, but has had some deeper thoughts on this, and as such, you are invited to read my views and the views of others.

In the spirit of "Freedom Of Speech" I invite your views, and I will be happy to publish them if you wish on these pages. You of course will be credited with your articles.
