The best advice from Bill Nebbing.

Swap files shrink and grow depending
on how much multi-tasking you do.

First let us understand the potential need for this.
Windows 95/98 does not always deal
with the swap file it creates correctly.
This can be caused by several things.
Incorrect shutdown, corrupt swap files,
just the quirkiness of Windows.

Given time these files can slow your computer operation

The Easy Fix To A Potential Windows Problem

On your start bar click on start, then click run.
In the run window type sysedit
Then hit the OK button

This will bring up a window that looks like this (more or less)

Find the window that has a title of C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
place your cursor on the last line
clicking at the end of that line.
Now hit the Enter key
and type DEL C:\WINDOWS\WIN386.swp

Now close all the open windows.
When prompted with a box that looks like this:

Click the Yes button.

From this point on, anytime your system is rebooted
your swap file will be deleted regardless of how your
system was shut down or the condition of the swap file.
